Join California-born, Havana-based percussionist Miguelito León, director of Cuba’s Rumba All-Stars and endorsed artist of LP Latin Percussion, Vic Firth, and SABIAN, for a special Afro-Cuban drum and song workshop honoring the life and legacy of legendary rumba master Maximino Duquesne Martínez.
This free, donation-based workshop aims to raise funds for a permanent resting place for Maximino at Havana’s historic Cementerio de Colón, where many of Cuba’s greatest cultural and musical icons are buried.
Currently resting in a temporary communal grave, Maximino deserves a lasting memorial where future generations can honor his extraordinary contributions to Cuban music and culture. Come learn, celebrate, and help preserve the legacy of a true rumba legend!
