| Holo Holo Music Festival Holo Holo Music Festival was born from a love of island and reggae music—a genre deeply rooted in connection, culture, and movement. The festival first set sail in 2022 at Frost Amphitheater at Stanford University, bringing together fans to celebrate the vibrant sounds of the islands. With the spirit of holo holo—meaning "to travel, to sail, to move"—the event quickly expanded, reaching new shores in Las Vegas and Sacramento in 2023. By 2024, its journey continued with a highly anticipated stop in San Diego. Now, in 2026, we're excited to take Holo Holo even further, bringing the music and community to Oceanside, Las Vegas, Sacramento, Tacoma, San Diego, Hawai'i, Irvine, and San Jose! As we continue to move and grow, the festival remains a space for connection—where fans can gather for two days of unforgettable performances, incredible food, and the shared love of island and reggae music. Set aboard a river barge in Paris at the turn of the century, the soul-stirring melodies will transport you to a foggy night of deception and death. Il Tabarro is the least-performed of the three operas in Puccini’s triple-bill Il Trittico (The Triptych). While companies frequently mount double bills of Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi, they usually overlook “Il Tabarro,” the first opera Puccini composed in the trio. In just one hour, you’ll be spellbound by the beauty and power of this music, whether you’re a devoted opera fan or a first-timer. That’s just half of the program, though. After the intermission, you’ll see the same story told in a completely different way: through neoclassical ballet. Featuring original choreography, this brand new adaptation of Il Tabarro reverses the narrative as the characters are now silent, speaking only through mesmerizingly expressive movements. After two days of intense conversation, the two leaders offered a tentative “yes,” proposing to create a new era of what they called “constructive strategic stability.” Following in the tradition of Susan Shirk, who insists on asking difficult questions and challenging conventional wisdom, the political scientist Graham Allison will devote this lecture to examining both the promise and the limits of that vision.
