Inspired by the traditional fishing nets and nautical knots featured in To Catch a Fish, our newest Together workshop series, Knot Together, explores the art of macramé. The series is led by Sitoë Thiam, a fiber artist and mechanical engineer who bridges technical precision with organic expression. As the founder of Unknot, a design studio specializing in knotting and weaving, she brings a unique interdisciplinary perspective to the world of fiber arts. Japanese Glass Float In July, learn the art of net-making using vibrant braided cotton. Personalize your glass float with custom colors, beads, and finishes for a one-of-a-kind nautical treasure. The Together series at Mingei invites makers of all skill levels to come together and create in a supportive, low-pressure environment. Past iterations—Sew Together, Weave Together, Dye Together, Stitch Together, and Clay Together—explore a variety of craft techniques while emphasizing collaboration, experimentation, and hands-on learning. Each workshop encourages participants to connect with materials, try new skills, and enjoy the process of making together.
