Ingrained Patterns explores the emotional weight of traditional Japanese motifs—forms that embody both beauty and constraint. For Harazaki, these patterns evoke a quiet melancholy, like unremovable tattoos ingrained in the body, symbolizing values and expectations absorbed over time. Ingrained – Sashiko (Seigaiha), 2024 20” x 20” Graphite, washi tape on canvas Through intricate repetition, her work conveys uncertainty, vulnerability, and subtle resistance as she navigates an identity shaped by multiple cultural influences. The exhibition invites viewers to reflect on their own inherited histories and the unseen forces that shape who they become.
