Explore Chinese scholars' gardens as sites where plants were central to both practical purposes and contemplating humanity's place within the cosmos. Speaker Phillip E. Bloom, PhD, June and Simon K.C. Li Curator of the Chinese Garden and Director of the Center for East Asian Garden Studies at The Huntington, will discuss these themes through the exhibition Growing and Knowing in the Gardens of China, displayed at The Huntington in fall 2024. A specialist in the history of the art and gardens of China's Song dynasty, Bloom has curated numerous projects and received the Bei Shan Tang Catalogue Prize for his work.
