Filipino History Month: Art Show and Open Mic

Uncategorized Download To My Calendar
Join The Brown Building and cohost Anakbayan San Diego for a Filipino History Month themed art show and open mic that will include some education about Filipino History. Partial proceeds from this event will help support a typhoon relief fund. Original art and buttons are available for sale and raffle.

Anakbayan San Diego (ABSD) is a comprehensive National Democratic youth and student grassroots organization. We are dedicated to empowering youth in San Diego to create systemic change, both at home and abroad. Learn more about them here: https://anakbayansd.wordpress.com/

The Filipino American National Historical Society cites that the month should be properly focused on "history" instead of "heritage." Whereas history includes the events, experiences and lives of people and their impact on society, heritage is solely about cultural traditions handed down from the past.
