President of San Diego State University, Adela de la Torre and Lance Nail, Thomas and Evelyn Page, Dean at Fowler College of Business, cordially invite you to a lecture featuring Ambassador Johnny Young, former U.S. Ambassador to West Africa, the Middle East and Central Europe.
Ambassador Johnny Young will explore how with some leadership, vision and will, the refugee situation can be improved and the U.S. can once again regain its leadership in this vital humanitarian work.
Prior to retirement, Ambassador Young served from August 2007 to February 2015 as Executive Director of Migration and Refugee Services of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. From 2005 to 2007, he worked as a consultant, contractor and lecturer. After a Foreign Service career that spanned nearly 38 years, he retired with the rank of Career Ambassador in December 2004. During his Foreign Service Career, Ambassador Young served in positions of increasing responsibility and complexity in eleven countries on four continents, including Ambassadorial assignments in Sierra Leone, Togo, Bahrain and Slovenia.
