The San Diego Chinese Historical Museum is thrilled to have guest artist Mr. Dongsheng Gao join us for one day only as he visits the West Coast from China. Mr. Gao is an expert in a very unique art form: snuff bottle painting.

South China Morning Post says Mr. Gao is ?one of the few remaining masters of the art which dates back to the late Ming dynasty (1368-1644), and involves painting through the neck of the pocket-sized crystal and glass bottles with ultra-fine brushes to depict traditional Chinese scenes, landscapes or portraits.?

Mr. Gao will be giving a presentation on his specialized art form and will display many of the bottles he?s painted over his career that has lasted over 30 years. He will also have bottles for purchase, and will also be customizing a few of them.
