Come celebrate the Ninth Annual Diwali, Festival of Lights at Balboa Park. This important Indian festival is rooted in the triumph of light over darkness.
Attendees will enjoy many cultural activities and programs throughout the day. This will culminate with the evening program on Oct. 15 where chief honoree Mrinalini Mata, president of the Self-Realization Fellowship, and senior members of the community will be honored in the traditional Indian way. This will be followed by Rainbow Dances from different states of India and the lighting of 1,008 small lamps.
Traditional Indian cuisine will be available from nine food vendors in the food court behind the Organ Pavilion on both days.
Admission/Cost: $5, Free entry for children under 10
Includes admission to the San Diego Museum of Art and Mingei International Museum on October 15 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM
