Join the San Diego Italian Film Festival to celebrate the sharing of the two cultures featured in the documentary film, ?Shores of Light?.
A team of fabulous Italian chefs will be recreating the spirit of rebirth for two war-devastated communities: Jewish Holocaust survivors and Pugliese villagers. Between 1945 and 1947 survivors streamed into Puglia to await blockade-running ships to Palestine. They found a welcome typical of Italian hospitality. Sharing garden produce, fishermen?s catches, field foraging, and relief packages, the two peoples came together at table.

It will be a night of memory, celebration, and delicious food ? Cucina Pugliese and Cucina Erbaica ? followed by the singular documentary ?The Shores of Light? (2015, 56 minutes) at 7:30 PM.
