San Diego County is home to 7,500 Serbian-Americans including a number of refugees from the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Come and discover the rich Serbian culture, which is centered around the Orthodox Christian faith, food, and music.

Attendees will be able to enjoy some classic dishes, such as burek (pastry filled with meat or cheese), cevapcici (barbequed minced beef & pork sausage), raznjici (bbq grilled pork); plus a number of pastries (apple and cherry pita); palachinke (Serbian crepes), baklava, walnut strudel, and Serbian Coffee.

Dance performances by the local Morava Folklore group will exhibit the spirit of the Serbian ethnic heritage with authentic choreography and costume design. Two live bands will also perform Serbian storytelling music during the day.

Church tours will be offered at 4:00 PM to explain the architecture, worship, symbolism, and basic precepts of the Orthodox faith. Built in 1952, St. George showcases unique colorful Venetian glass mosaics throughout its interior, the likes of which can usually only be seen in South-Eastern Europe.

A Vespers/Evening Service will be held at 6:00 PM. Clergy and laity from all denominations are welcomed and encouraged to share in the symposium and tours.

Additionally, a number of famous Serbian athletes have been invited, including the world?s number one-ranked tennis players, Novak Djokovic and Jelena Jankovic.
