Graduate students from the University of San Diego are proud to present a cross-campus collaborative event highlighting the local nonprofit Survivors of Torture, International. This organization offers holistic healing services and a safe haven to the more than 35,000 torture survivors in San Diego County. Held on the International Day of Peace, this event aims to bring awareness about the number of survivors living in San Diego and the challenges they face as they rebuild their lives in our community, often far away from friends and families. The night of arts, education, and healing will feature spoken-word performances of poetry written by torture survivors and a panel of local academics and experts on the legal, personal, and societal implications of torture. Reception to follow. Age limit: 18+
