When the corpse of a beautiful woman is found lying on the shore by a lake in the Italian Alps, veteran city police inspector, Giovanni (Toni Servillo), takes over the murder investigation. The detective interviews: the harmless village idiot Mario, a hostile factory worker boyfriend, and the womanizing hockey coach. They all seem to have a motive.
