Film: Huicholes - The Last Peyote Guardians

Uncategorized Download To My Calendar
This film tells the story about one of the last pre-Hispanic alive cultures in Latin America, the mystical Wix?rika people. Follow the fight of the Wix?rika people to preserve their home, their heritage. An unequal struggle against the Mexican government and multinational mining corporations to preserve Wirikuta, their most sacred territory and home of the famous peyote cactus. Although this movie is good way to make discover a forgotten culture like the mystical Wix?rika people, it also delivers us a message and tries to catch our attention to become conscious of what's going on with our global community.

Proceeds are to be divided between paying for the film production and tour, and supporting permaculture farming development projects in the communities featured in the film, both to provide a safe alternative to mining and to help keep the Wixarika ceremonial centers alive.
