Uncategorized Download To My Calendar
Hostelling International USA San Diego (HI - San Diego) is pleased to host our 7th annual Peacebuilding Conference on September 20th and 21st this year. The Conference is being held in conjunction with Hostelling International's Sleep for Peace event and the United Nation's Day of Peace.

The theme for the Peacebuilding Conference is Journey to Peace, reflecting the travels people take in search of peace, security, and safety. Speakers will share stories of the movement of immigrants across borders, refugees seeking safety through relocation, local impacts of human trafficking, and how we, as citizen diplomats, can make a difference.

The Conference will begin on Saturday, September 20, from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm in the theater at San Diego State University's (SDSU) Aztec Student Union, where attendees will be engaged with speakers and activities. The keynote speaker is Natalie Maroun, with the San Diego Diplomacy Council.

A community service project will take place from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Sunday, September 21, at the Journey Thrift Shop in National City. Journey proceeds benefit victims of human trafficking.

A Celebration of Peace networking social will cap off events at the HI-San Diego Downtown hostel (521 Market St, San Diego) from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Sunday. Representatives from a variety of local peacebuilding agencies will be present to share information about their missions and needs, and participants can enjoy screen-printing activities, peace poetry, and refreshments.
