Amb. N Parthasarathi, Consul General of India in San Francisco, will speak on US-India relations. We are now seeing a mending of the friendship after the most unfortunate incident in New York at the end of 2013. This important bilateral relationship now faces new challenges with the dramatic developments in Ukraine. The post?Cold War era has ended. Is another Cold War about to begin? What will India?s role be in this new age? The Non-Aligned Movement, founded in 1961, was largely conceived by Jawaharlal Nehru, India?s first Prime Minister in an attempt to thwart the Cold War. Today, Iran is Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement until the 17th Summit to be held in Caracas, Venezuela, in 2015. What are the possibilities for the Non-Aligned Movement while Russia and China jostle with the United States for power? What is the view from India as the United States and allied forces draw down in Afghanistan? What is the outlook for cooperation between India and the US in the fields of energy, science & technology, and education?
