In July 9 2011, South Sudan celebrated its first independence day, making it the youngest country in the world. San Diego is home to a large population of Southern Sudanese, who are welcome to attend and celebrate independence.
The African Night event will feature performances by upcoming African artists, from South Sudan, Uganda, Kenya and Congo. Music of different genres will be played, including reggae, dancehall, hip-hop, naija, azonto, lingala, bongo, genge, zouk, and more.
