San Diego Italian Film Festival presents a romantic comedy, Matrimonio ed altri disastri (Weddings and Other Disasters), starring that perennial favorite, Margherita Buy, playing the role of the unmarried older sister who is tricked into producing her younger sister?s wedding, and in the process learns to live and love as her own person.
The acting and the locations are as satisfying as a great Italian meal, all in Tuscany, in lush vineyards and fascinating Firenze. While all the supporting actors are excellent, Buy holds together the whole firmament of stars and makes a gorgeous constellation out of all their ensemble work. Light, airy, humorous and finally uplifting, this film will have you longing for Italy even more than you do now, and hoping to meet Buy.
